Lunch at Brio Tuscan Grille in Freehold NJ

Last weekend, I had to take Beth to the doctor and we decided to go out somewhere to eat in that area. The restaurant that we picked was Brio Tuscan Grille since we’ve never been there. The other restaurants in the area include Bobby’s Burger Palace which is good but slightly overpriced, The Cheesecake Factory that’s near where we live and PF Chang’s that is overpriced Chinese food at its finest.

So, we decided to give it a shot and we were not disappointed with the food. Beth had the Chipotle Chicken & Bacon Panini, while I had one of the specials featuring well-cooked salmon, sweet potatoes and other good veggies. The presentation was that of a fancy restaurant, as seen below with my dish, while the price point was not so high.

We also got bread, which typical Italian restaurants would put out. However, the one flaw of our dining experience would have to be our waiter, Temu. I only know his name because we looked at the bill since he never introduced himself to us. Part of way through our lunch, I heard another waiter read off a list of specials to a table nearby. He didn’t do that for us either.

Overall, Temu just seemed to be there and not overly friendly. Small inconsistencies were also noticeable, such as the way he spoke to me versus the way he spoke to Beth. When she thanked him, he said “you’re welcome.” When I thanked him, he say “you got it.”

Although the service left something to be desired, I was happy overall because I had good food (which is why I go to a restaurant in the first place) and I got four business cards. I thought I was only going to get three, but the last business card for Adam Del Vecchio (which happens to be a variant spelling on my grandmother’s maiden name) was on the same pile as the ones for Jamie List. Little surprises like that brighten my day.
